What to Do Before You Reach Us

Knocked-out tooth

Hold it by the crown only. Rinse gently, do not scrub, and try to seat it back in the socket. If that is not possible, keep it in milk. Get to us within 60 minutes if you can.

Broken tooth

Rinse with warm water, save any pieces, and hold a cold compress against your cheek to limit swelling.

Severe pain

Over-the-counter ibuprofen or acetaminophen helps. Avoid placing aspirin directly on the gum, which can burn the tissue.

Bleeding

Apply firm pressure with clean gauze or a cloth for 10 to 15 minutes. If bleeding does not slow, call us or go to the nearest ER.
