What Invisalign Does
Invisalign is a clear aligner system designed to straighten teeth without metal brackets and wires. The custom-crafted aligners are made from nearly invisible BPA-free plastic. They fit snugly yet comfortably against your teeth to move them incrementally.
How Invisalign Works
Here’s how the Invisalign process works at Densley Dental:
- Consultation: Dr. Sidhu will evaluate your bite and discuss your dental goals. This includes taking X-rays and mouth impressions. Densley Dental uses the most advanced cutting-edge technology, so there are no sticky, cold, or messy impressions here. The iTero™ intraoral scanner quickly and painlessly gathers images from your mouth to create a digital impression.
- Custom Aligners: The Invisalign Lab creates your custom-made aligners using digital images and impressions. Dr. Sidhu checks your aligners for fit and trims the edges to ensure they’re comfortable on your gums.
- Wearing the Aligners: You must wear your aligners except when brushing your teeth and eating for best results (usually around 22 hours daily). You change to a new pair of aligners every week or two (based on your customized treatment plan).
- Monitoring Progress: Dr. Sidhu monitors your progress throughout treatment to ensure everything is on track and to make any necessary adjustments.
Although treatment time does vary based on the degree of teeth shifting needed, most of our patients wear Invisalign for about one year. That’s shorter than metal braces in many cases!
